London – In the Heart of the City

London_travel_blogs

Hasan and I got to visit our uncle who lives in London. What a fun trip! Our uncle is a cancer specialist who is busy, but he took time to show us the town. We saw many buildings and places from movies and learned some new things I didn’t expect.

The London Tower is the oldest place in London, and the Parliament Building is also the Westminster Palace. We also saw Big Ben. Other buildings were mostly made of glass. The Gherkin looks like a tall bullet; the Shard is the tallest of them all; and the City Hall looks like a snail shell. The huge Ferris Wheel is called the London Eye. You ride in glass bubbles with comfy seats and can see everything unless it’s foggy. It’s right on the Thames River.

The signs were in many languages, and the city was filled with people from a lot of cultures; some spoke French or Arabic. They also have Chinatown. We went to many restaurants and even a McDonalds where we ordered food on a touch screen. Their food was different than the US menu.

London’s subways are called The Tube. We knew they drove on the left side of the road but having the driver in the right seat was weird. They also use plastic money. Hasan’s favorite place of all was Piccadilly Circus, a street with screens on buildings like Times Square. Mine was the M & M World store. Lots of candy in every color and we got scanned for our M&M mood color.

Everyone should try to visit London.

Till next time,

Hussain and Hasan
