We never knew our visit to Colombo could be so exciting. It was after our visit that we got to know that Colombo is popularly known for its temples and monuments. These places are praiseworthy because of the minor details they have and a strong touch of nature. Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple is one of them. It is a fusion of Indian, Thai, and Chinese culture, which makes it a great location to explore. We loved the architecture it possesses.
We also visited the Independence Memorial Hall, which marks the independence of Sri Lanka from the British. Many national events are held in the hall all year round and an annual Independence Day celebration too. But what amazed us about this hall was that it allows people to come and jog here. It offers a place for them to gym, cycle, and perform other activities. Unfortunately, we were not wearing our sneakers, so we missed the excitement it could have added to our trip.
The next exciting spot was Beria Lake. It is serene and calm and a perfect place to compose any anxious mind. Tourists come here to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature while rowing their boats in utmost peace. We, too, tried rowing though we had to do a lot of hard work.
As Colombo was under the occupancy of British, Portuguese, and Dutch, it has a diverse culture, and therefore, anybody who goes there feels at home in just a couple of days. So, if Sri Lanka was not on your bucket list already then, it’s high time to add it for the exciting places to see in Colombo!
